Then, she was in jail for a few years, causing her to lose custody of her three children. However, when she got out, she vowed to make life different and more positive for them. “There are many things I regret, but they've brought me to where I'm at now,” she said, smiling.
Along with making their home welcoming, she tries hard to set a good example. Cindy recently earned her associate degree in business and shows her children how important an education is in their lives. It is obvious her daughter has been listening to this good advice, for she graduates high school this year and has been accepted in the nursing program at Kent State.
Although Cindy worries at night about how the bills will get paid, she tries not to share her concerns with her children. “My kids are happy kids, and I'm blessed by that. Sometimes when I'm wondering where the next meal will come from, I hear them giggling. I don't ever want to spoil their happy spirit,” she said.
